Back from the Nautic, TEMO shares with you the latest innovations in the world of boating .

Unique boats, a revolutionary jet ski, a hull cover, or a floating object detection system: there's something for everyone! These innovations all share a strong commitment to clean, safe, and fun boating. Let's dive into some fascinating innovations that have already proven successful.

Birdyfish, the foiling dinghy accessible to all.

Behind this evocative name lies a light, maneuverable dinghy that allows you to tame foil sailing .

Whether at sailing school, with friends, or family, this new-generation dinghy opens up new possibilities for dinghy sailing. From 10 knots of wind, Birdyfish takes flight. There are very few adjustments to make: this boat focuses on the pleasure of discovering the unique sensation of flying.

The origins of Birdyfish.

Pierre Rhimbault, an engineer and high-level athlete – he notably competed in the Solitaire du Figaro – explains, "I was a professional Figaro skipper and I didn't have access to these sensations: too expensive." The first prototype was developed at an engineering school in La Rochelle. The young company is now based in Nantes and has opted for local, short-supply-chain manufacturing. Its slogan, as you might have guessed, is: "Flying with foils is becoming accessible to everyone."

This dinghy is scalable: as you learn, you can add a range of options to sharpen your knowledge… and your performance!

Overboat: jet skiing, but better and quieter.

No more noise or exhaust fumes, Overboat is a revolutionary personal watercraft that relies on three cutting-edge technologies:

  • A direct drive electric motor
  • Foils
  • Automated controls

Thanks to this unique combination, energy consumption is five times lower than an equivalent boat without foils and with an outboard motor. For recreational boaters and professionals alike, Overboat's numerous applications will be a welcome relief for both residents and fish.

The origins of Overboat.

It was in 2018 that Vincent Dufour, an oceanographer , embarked on the quest "for a solution to be able to navigate while fully respecting the marine ecosystem." The company now brings together a dozen experts and is developing its innovative jet ski in the Occitanie region.

The best thing about Overboat.

Overboat has a power output of 4.5 kW, so it can be used without a license . "Stable, easy (...) you get the same sensations as on a jet ski, the same speed, without the noise," testifies Armel Le Cléac'h after a test.

K-Ren: no more fairing!

We've been dreaming of this for so long! K-Ren is a boat hull protection cover that replaces annual antifouling . Choosing K-Ren means saving 10 years of antifouling costs, reducing wear and tear on your boat, and protecting the environment.

Each cover is custom-made from a high-tech PVC fabric resistant to numerous stresses, including light, mold, and UV rays. It can be attached to the hull in approximately 30 minutes – much less time than a fairing, in short. Once removed, it weighs 20 kg and folds easily for storage in its carrying bag. At the end of its life, this fabric is 100% recyclable.

The origins of K-Ren.

"How can we maintain the boat's hull and keep it clean without polluting port waters?" This was the question posed by the founders of K-Ren, experts in textile architecture and passionate about the sea. This family business , based in the Montpellier region, met the challenge by opting for French production.

The most K-Ren.

A service package including installation, removal, maintenance and storage of the cover is available from partner collection points.

Dufour 32, a fun cruising sailboat.

We all know Dufour Yachts and its cruising sailboats. The new Dufour 32, just launched in 2021, stands out thanks to a wealth of clever features. Pleasure and versatility are guaranteed.

  • Outside, the cockpit transforms into a spacious sunbathing area or a convivial table under an easily adjustable shade sail.
  • Inside, two separate cabins, which is rare for a 9.36m hull, a galley, a head, and a convertible saloon allow for comfortable accommodation of 6 people on a cruise.

This cruising sailboat has opted for a tiller steering system, offering a wonderful sailing experience. An ideal boat for outings with family or friends.

The advantage of the Dufour 32.

This sailboat even has storage racks for surfboards or other water sports equipment on the sides. The stroke of genius? The transom transforms into a paddleboard . Umberto Felci, architect of Dufour yachts, explains: "The goal was to bring fun to boating." Mission accomplished!

OSCAR, artificial vision for safety at sea.

This charming name also refers to a high-tech monitoring system for preventing collisions at sea . Mounted at the masthead, OSCAR combines several optical sensors connected to an artificial intelligence system that alerts the skipper to all floating obstacles, large and small, day and night. For recreational boaters, racers, and long-distance sailors, whether under sail or motor, OSCAR has developed systems adapted to each type of vessel.

OSCAR monitoring system

The origins of OSCAR.

It was during a crossing to Cape Verde that Raphaël Biancale, an engineer and amateur sailor , lamented the lack of a high-tech tool to take over the monitoring of UFOs (unidentified floating objects), especially at night. OSCAR is now being developed by the company BSB Marine in Brittany, in partnership with German investors, and assembled in Austria. A fine example of European collaboration!

The most Oscar.

The risk of collision is automatically assessed and signaled by an alarm on the onboard navigation system , a smartphone, or a tablet. "OSCAR's strength lies in its reliable alarm," testifies Vincent Riou, winner of the 2004 Vendée Globe and partner in the project.

Manta5 or cycling on the sea.

Manta5 is a hydrofoil bike . You grab the handlebars, hop on the saddle, and with a few pedal strokes, it glides on its foils. A far cry from a pedal boat, Manta5 features 7 levels of electric assistance, making it easy to experience the thrill of gliding.

The origins of Manta5.

Manta5 is positioned "just above a recreational bike. I wanted to make it a sports accessory," explains its founder, Guy Howard-Willis . Behind this simple appearance lies a technological marvel that required almost nine years of development before reaching the market. A New Zealand innovation, now sold worldwide.

The best thing about Manta5.

Lightweight, fast, and without a keel or floats, the Manta5 is easily disassembled and fits in a car trunk. Cycling has no more limits: welcome to the future of cycling, without roads or traffic jams.

It's like a Christmas wish list: cycling on the open sea, sailing in complete serenity even at night, no longer needing to antifoule your hull every year, or sailing a lightweight dinghy equipped with foils. In 2021, even bringing all your surfboards on a cruise or jet skiing without noise or fumes is now possible. Innovations that truly delight everyone: boaters, coastal residents, and those who live on the oceans.

And you, what innovations impressed you at the Nautic?
