TEMO·450 is an electric outboard motor for dinghies and light sailboats.
Since our outboard motor is electric, questions about battery life and autonomy often come up, and rightly so! Rest assured, we'll tell you everything in this article.

Electric boat motor with integrated battery.

The battery in our power tool is a 290 Wh lithium-ion battery housed within the gray tube. This protects the battery by sealing it in place. The battery in this model is not removable; it remains permanently inside the waterproof gray tube. This eliminates the need for battery replacements and prevents any connection problems !

The electric rowing machine can be recharged in 3.5 hours using either 220V or 12V . However, do not attempt to extend the motor's range by charging it while in use, as this will damage the battery.

The use of solar panels is possible , but remember to put an intermediate battery between the panel and the motor.

Finally, since our portable electric motor is lightweight and compact , you can even take it to a restaurant with you to recharge it during a break on land. Pretty neat, right?

Battery life of our portable electric motor.

As experience shows, even without the option to swap the battery, an average of one hour of battery life is sufficient for several short trips in the dinghy. Beyond that, battery life varies depending on usage.

If you're navigating in rough conditions (current, wind, choppy waters, fully loaded dinghy, etc.) at full speed, you'll get closer to 45 minutes of autonomy. If you're cruising at speed, in good conditions, and without a heavy load, you'll get around 1 hour and 15 minutes.

It's also possible to increase the electric sculling boat's range by optimizing the battery . It propels small boats at an average hull speed of 3 knots. Since the throttle is progressive, running the motor between mid-range and full power will allow you to reach an average speed of 2.5 knots. This way, you consume less fuel and enjoy the view a little more!

To ensure you don't have to use oars, you have a real-time battery gauge on the handle. A blue bar indicates approximately 15 minutes of battery life. Just like in your car, you even have a visible reserve! When only the red outline remains, you have about twelve minutes before your power tool shuts off.
