Before you begin, check that the battery charge level is below 50% . To do this, ensure that two or fewer LEDs are lit on the battery gauge. If not, use your motor to discharge the battery to the desired level, then remove the battery from the motor for the next steps.
Steps to winterize your TEMO · 1000.
Step 1: Rinse and clean.
Begin by thoroughly rinsing your engine with fresh water to remove any traces of salt or sand that could cause corrosion. Then dry the engine, ideally in a vertical position. For optimal maintenance, also clean the stainless steel parts of your engine mount and apply a light coat of grease to areas prone to corrosion if necessary.
Step 2: Putting the battery into winter mode.
The TEMO·1000 battery has a winterization mode to preserve it during long periods of non-use.
To activate winter mode:
- Connect the charger by first connecting the battery, then the mains plug.
- Press and hold the ON/OFF button for five seconds.
- The first LED will flash alternately red and green, indicating that winter mode is activated.
Once the battery reaches the optimal charge level for storage, it automatically enters deep sleep mode. At this point, you can unplug the charger.
Step 3: Protecting the connectors.
To prevent corrosion of the battery and engine connectors, apply a thin coat of sunflower oil with a brush. This natural protection limits the risk of oxidation while keeping the connectors clean during the winter.
Step 4: Storing the motor and battery.
Store the motor and battery in a clean, dry location, away from extreme temperature fluctuations and humidity, to prevent corrosion, especially on aluminum parts. Use the TEMO carrying case to keep all the equipment safe and secure.
IMPORTANT : Check the battery charge level every three months. If only one green LED is lit on the gauge, slightly recharge the battery to maintain an optimal charge level, without exceeding 50%.

Deactivating winter mode.
When you are ready to use your TEMO·1000 again, winter mode will automatically deactivate as soon as you turn the battery or motor back on, or plug in the charger again.
