Before starting, check that the battery charge level is below 50%. To do this, make sure two or fewer LEDs are lit on the battery gauge. If this is not the case, use your motor to discharge the battery to the desired level, then remove the battery from the motor for the next steps.

Steps for winterizing your TEMO·1000

Step 1: Rinsing and cleaning

Start by rinsing your motor thoroughly with fresh water, to remove any traces of salt or sand that could cause corrosion. Then dry the motor, preferably in an upright position. For optimum maintenance, also clean the stainless steel parts of your motor mount, and apply a light coat of grease to corrosion-sensitive areas if necessary.

Step 2: Putting the battery into winter mode

The TEMO·1000's battery features a wintering mode to preserve it during long periods of non-use.

To activate wintering mode :

  1. Connect the charger by connecting the battery first, then the mains plug.
  2. Press and hold the ON/OFF button for five seconds.
  3. The first LED will flash alternately red and green, indicating activation of wintering mode.

Once the battery has reached the optimum charge level for storage, it automatically switches to deep standby. At this point, you can disconnect the charger.

Step 3: Protecting connectors

To prevent corrosion of battery and motor connectors, apply a thin layer of sunflower oil with a brush. This natural protection limits the risk of oxidation, while keeping connectors clean throughout the winter.

Step 4: Use of protective caps (optional)

For added protection, you can install caps on the battery connectors. These caps protect the connectors from moisture and dust during storage.

Step 5: Motor and battery storage

Store the motor and battery in a clean, dry place, away from extreme temperature variations and humidity, to prevent corrosion, especially of aluminum parts. Use the TEMO Carrying Case to store all your equipment safely.

IMPORTANT: Check the battery charge level every three months. If only one green LED lights up on the gauge, recharge the battery slightly to maintain an optimum charge level, but not exceeding 50%.

By following these winterizing steps, you'll ensure long life and optimum performance for your TEMO·1000 motor. Preserve your investment, and prepare your motor for new adventures as soon as the warm weather returns!

Winterizing mode deactivation

When you're ready to use your TEMO·1000 again, the wintering mode will be automatically deactivated as soon as you switch the battery or motor back on, or by reconnecting the charger.
