The TEMO·450 is an electric outboard motor for dinghies and
small sailboats. As a product that goes in the water, it’s reassuring to
know it is waterproof! In this article, we’re going to tell you all about the
waterproofing of the electric oar.

 IP 67 Certification

The electric oar is 100% waterproof to IP67 certification.
This means that it can be immersed for 30 minutes to a depth of 1 meter.

Water in my electric oar ?

Furthermore, the entire TEMO·450 is waterproof, from the handle right to the propeller. If you see water flowing through your electric motor, don't worry.
The sealed parts of the electric sculling oar are the grey tube (which contains
the battery) and the black tube (containing the motor). It is normal to see water
coming out of the handle or the blue tube once the motor has been
submerged.

Electric oar charging socket

A point to note about the charging socket (just below the handle).

This is also waterproof but can be sensitive to salt and sand. Rinse this part as often as possible with fresh water, to avoid risk of rust. This operation is all the more important if the handle is ever in sea water.

Don’t hesitate to repeat this operation with the TEMO·450 in general and especially during wintering. The more frequently and correctly the motor is rinsed with fresh water, the better its longevity. Take care of your motor and it will take care of you !

TEMO Buoyancy Accessory Kit

Lastly, to avoid any problems, we recommend the buoyancy kit !
This accessory combined with the practicality of the rowlock, means you can be sure that your electric scull isn’t going to end up at the bottom of the sea, because as its name indicates, it makes... the TEMO·450 float! And that way, you are guaranteed to stay within the waterproof limits of the product.

So there you are. Hopefully you’ve got a clearer picture! And just so our portable electric motor holds no more secrets for you, take a look at all our
