Does our electric motor float ?

The TEMO·450 is an electric outboard motor for dinghies and
small sailing boats. Since our electric motor is waterproof (to IP67 specifications), we are often asked if it floats. So, the TEMO·450 doesn't float on its own, but we have come up with some ideas to help it. This is where the accessories come in :

Rowlock attachment for our electric motor

To prevent your electric motor from sinking, the rowlock attachment is your best ally.

To prevent your electric motor from sinking, the rowlock attachment is your best ally. Once attached to the transom of your dinghy (see attachment video), the rowlock will not move. You can therefore easily secure your electric dinghy motor with the nut on the rowlock attachment. When your TEMO·450 is secured with the nut, you can release it without any problem. It will sit upright in the water waiting for you to come back!

Here, you will find a complete article dedicated to the rowlock. New for this year is the fact that the rowlock attachment is also available as a removable accessory !

Flotation kit for our electric motor

Also, we have developed an accessory especially for this issue: the floatation kit. As the name suggests, it makes the electric sculling oar float. It comes in the form of a “sock” which slips around the blue tube. It is installed in seconds and gives you complete peace of mind !

It allows our electric motor to float vertically, as it butts up against the clamp. This keeps the handle out of the water, allowing you to grab hold of it easily. In addition, this accessory will not affect the comfort in use when under way or the grip, and as well, it’s Made in France! It even allows you to protect the anodization of your blue tube and it fits in the carrying bag.
Not bad, eh ?

So there you are. Hopefully you’ve got a clearer picture! And just so our portable electric motor holds no more secrets for you, take a look at all our other articles.
