TEMO Startup Raises €600,000 to Accelerate Development of the First Portable Electric Motor Made in France.
TEMO has attracted new private investors just one year after its first funding round. The company designs, produces, and markets the first portable electric boat motor and is leveraging its significant commercial success to accelerate its development. This French innovation revolutionizes the boat propulsion market, drawing inspiration from urban mobility.
Strong partners to accelerate development.
In a crisis context, TEMO has raised nearly €600,000 to strengthen its industrial know-how and accelerate its commercial deployment in France and internationally. Supported by the Morbihan fund OCTAVE II and renowned Business Angels, this funding round will enable the company to pursue its development and maintain its lead in the market for marinized portable electric tools. Also supported by banks (Crédit Maritime and Caisse d’Epargne) and BPI, TEMO confirms its ability to bring together the best partners in its entrepreneurial journey. TEMO was advised on the legal structuring of the operation by Augustin Plesse at Oratio Avocats.
The company, based in the Loire region, is supported by Atlanpole, a member of the Entreprendre Atlantique Network, labelled Sailing Lab, and incubated at IMT Atlantique, demonstrating its regional roots. Furthermore, TEMO is a member of the Federation of Nautical Industries, NINA, and the Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique.
“TEMO is a French innovation rarely seen in boating. Alexandre has met a very clear need by drawing inspiration from urban mobility and adapting existing technologies to nautical use. It's difficult to make things simple, yet the TEMO·450 is remarkably simple in design and use. As boating professionals, we are happy to enable TEMO to accelerate thanks to our investment and advice.” - Bruno Le Jossec, Director of Octave II.
“As a boater using TEMO·450 and a nautical professional, I am pleased to see the success of Alexandre's intuition and the tremendous work done over the past year. Highly visible online, TEMO has navigated the difficult period without damage. This fundraising allows for accelerated product development and international commercialization.” - Bruno Voisard, one of the historical shareholders.
“After two years of R&D and a very positive market response, it was time for TEMO to strengthen its equity to achieve its ambitions. This fundraising will allow us to double our passionate team, strengthen our industrial expertise, consider developing the product range, and respond to numerous international requests. The composition of this funding round is highly consistent with TEMO's needs, and we will benefit from the experience of each investor to execute our strategic plan.” - Alexandre SEUX, Founder of TEMO.

The first portable electric outboard motor made in France.
France is currently the leading European builder of pleasure boats and the second worldwide. Despite the economic importance of the nautical sector and the expertise of its industry, no mass-produced boat in France (nearly one million registered and 12,000 more each year) is equipped with an engine manufactured in France.
TEMO distinguishes itself by becoming the first brand in the world to develop, produce, and market a portable electric boat motor manufactured in France. The Nantes-based company starts with a lightweight and portable electric motor and intends to quickly expand its range.
The startup chose to focus on electric power, an energy that aligns with the company's responsible and quality-driven approach. "Our passion as boaters is expressed on the ocean and inland waters. Preserving this environment, which is dear to us, is a strong value at TEMO. We therefore wanted to offer a new alternative to all those who wish to abandon thermal engines and navigate more cleanly," emphasizes Alexandre.
While the ecological and silent aspects of this new motor contribute to TEMO's commercial success, it is primarily its revolutionary design that appeals to boaters and fishermen – many of whom placed orders from the moment of launch. With its unique tubular shape, compact size, and ultra-light weight, TEMO offers a new level of user comfort. Recognized by the nautical industry, the thruster was voted best product of the year 2019 at the last Paris boat show.
Internationally patented, the motor is telescopic, waterproof, portable, and perfectly suited for propelling light craft (boat tenders, fishing boats, small sailboats).
International prospects.
Building on its successful launch in France, the startup is now turning its attention to Germany and its European neighbors. Several orders placed and numerous requests from distributors demonstrate strong interest in the thruster. The translation of the website www.temofrance.com into several languages, along with a dedicated communication campaign, should accelerate commercial development.
The startup, with global ambitions, does not intend to stop there. The team aims for an upcoming entry into the United States and has already identified reliable partners to support its establishment across the Atlantic.

International prospects.
