An electric motor isn't controlled like a combustion engine: the maximum torque of an electric motor is almost instantaneous. As a result, with the TEMO·1000, it's not necessary to reach the maximum power of 1100W to benefit from significant performance. It goes without saying that the propeller design of the TEMO·1000 plays a significant role in this!

During this test, we evaluated the performance of the TEMO·1000 with three levels of acceleration, and therefore power . Each configuration is designed for a specific use, with very concrete results in terms of duration, speed and distance.

* SAFE MODE At TEMO, we have developed an intelligent battery that automatically reduces its speed once the critical battery threshold is reached; this is what we call safe mode.

Similarly, if the battery detects a fault, it can activate a safety mode. This is the case, for example, if seaweed gets caught in the propeller. The motor will stop to prevent overheating. All you have to do is remove the foreign object from the propeller, and you can continue using your TEMO·1000.

**In this case, the average speed at full power is calculated as follows: The battery can provide 45 minutes of autonomy at full power, therefore D1 = Vmax * 45 min.
Then, 15 minutes in Safe Mode where the battery produces 50% of the maximum speed, i.e. D2=0.5*Vmax*15min, i.e. a total distance of D1+D2.

Key takeaway: the speed difference between 825W and 1100W is minimal, but battery life benefits. An excellent compromise for pragmatic sailors.
