Boating as a liberating and sustainable practice
It all began during a round-the-world sailing trip. Alexandre Seux, a passionate sailor, made a clear observation: recreational boating deserved better than noisy, polluting, and bulky engines. From this realization came a desire to take action. In 2018, together with Justine Perussel , they launched TEMO, with the ambition of shaking up the traditional marine engine market.
Surrounded by an agile and committed team, they aim to rethink the propulsion of pleasure craft using electric power.
“Let’s build a more sustainable boating industry together.
— Justine PERUSSELCo-founder
By focusing on the essentials: quality products, reliable services, and useful innovation designed for real-world use. At TEMO, this pragmatic approach guides our priorities. Together, let's move towards more responsible navigation, respectful of those who sail today and the environment around us.

Today, TEMO continues its development by offering solutions adapted to all nautical uses, with power outputs ranging from 450 W to 3 kW, available in outboard and pod versions.
Designed with passion, each TEMO engine offers a more enjoyable and sustainable boating experience. Patented and award-winning for their unique design and ergonomics, TEMO engines have already won over more than 7,500 boaters worldwide.

At TEMO, speed is not the priority
For experienced boaters, our vision of motorization is clear. We cater to light boating – sailing, coastal navigation, inland waterways – activities where speed is not the priority.
What matters is not going faster. It's moving forward at the right pace. Propelling oneself efficiently over controlled distances: leaving the port, reaching an anchorage, sailing along a coast, accessing a fishing area.
It is in these real-world uses that electric power truly comes into its own. We advocate for propulsion that is appropriate, consistent, and measured : the right power for the right vessel, serving a simpler, quieter, and more environmentally friendly experience.
This choice, both technical and committed, is part of a sustainable approach, attentive to the environment as well as the quality of the nautical experience . TEMO advocates a more understated approach to boating, where simplicity, comfort, and the pleasure of time spent on the water take center stage.
ORIGIN OF THE WORD TEMO
The name TEMO has its origins in maritime vocabulary and history.
It comes from the Latin "Temonis" — timo, timonis in Vulgar Latin — which refers to the tiller , that long bar used to steer a boat. From this word came the words helmsmanship and helmsman, the position and the person who steer the course .
By choosing the name TEMO, we wanted to pay homage to that essential sailing gesture: taking the helm, mastering the course, and moving forward with confidence. A name that felt like a natural fit for our brand, which places piloting, simplicity, and control at the heart of the nautical experience .
