TEMO’s Vannes site destroyed by fire
Vannes, 10 August 2026 – TEMO, a company specialising in the development and sale of electric motors for boats, was hit by a major fire on the morning of 8 August 2026. The blaze completely destroyed the company’s Vannes site.
The offices, workshop, showroom and storage area were all completely destroyed. The premises were empty when the fire broke out, and no injuries or casualties were reported.
The neighbouring company, Balnéo Forme, was evacuated as soon as the fire alarm was raised, and several people had to leave the premises. Other neighbouring businesses were also evacuated, including the Mercure Hotel and B'Wall.
Our thoughts are particularly with our neighbours at Balnéo Forme, whose business has been directly affected by the fire. We recognise the impact this event may also have on their operations and extend our full support to them during this difficult time.
A major emergency response
Significant resources were deployed to bring the fire under control, with around twenty emergency vehicles and fifty firefighters mobilised. Police and municipal services also attended the scene to secure the surrounding area.
TEMO would like to sincerely thank all the firefighters, police officers and city services involved for their responsiveness and commitment throughout the emergency response.
Cause of the fire remains unknown
At this stage, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
The alert was triggered by a connected automatic smoke detector installed in the workshop, which housed TEMO’s R&D, prototyping, assembly of certain products and after-sales service activities.
Contrary to what the nature of TEMO’s business might suggest, the Vannes site is neither a logistics warehouse nor a facility dedicated to the storage of lithium batteries.
A limited number of batteries were present on site for the purposes of the activities carried out there. The company’s main inventory is held separately at a warehouse in Nantes.
Tests carried out on site ruled out any technological risk, and the neighbouring businesses that had been evacuated were able to return to their premises by late morning.
Priority: ensuring TEMO’s business continuity
The material consequences of the fire are considerable. The destruction of the equipment and inventory at the Vannes site means that, for the time being, shipments, repairs and R&D activities carried out at the site have been suspended.
TEMO’s teams remain mobilised to respond to requests from customers and partners. Given these exceptional circumstances, response times will inevitably be longer over the coming days. Requests will be handled progressively, according to priority and urgency. We thank our customers and partners in advance for their patience and understanding.
TEMO is now focusing its efforts on ensuring the continuity of the company and supporting its 23 employees.
Finding new premises is a first step. The company will also need to replace certain equipment and inventory, restart its supply chain and secure the resources required to enable a gradual resumption of its activities.
Just two days after the fire, it is still too early to establish a precise timeline. The necessary decisions will be taken over the coming days as the situation can be assessed in greater detail.
